You and your team of Marvel super heroes help Nick Fury launch a secret pre-emptive strike against Latveria and Lucia Von Bardas only to have to thwart her retalitaory attack on New York City. Coupled with other super hero incidents, public sentiment turns against super heroes. The Superhuman Registration Act becomes law and super heroes must register as weapons of mass destruction, and become licensed government agents with the United States government. Lines are drawn as Iron Man leads the pro-registration faction, while Captain America spearheads the stand on anti-registration. You must pick a side and fight to determine the fate of the universe and humankind. So, whose side are you on. Playable Characters Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will feature a wide array of playable heroes and villains, some of which are available from the beginning of the game, while others will need to be unlocked. The makeup of teams can be changed as the player chooses, and characters can be leveled up as they gain experience and the game progresses. In addition, the separate powers of super heroes can be combined, or "fused," resulting in unique abilities that are devastating in combat. Fun game but short July 23, 2010 Joseph L. Flint The game was a lot of fun. The graphics were good. I found the game to be short. I'm not a gamer and I beat it in two weeks.
Good entertainment without too much movies... May 17, 2010 GCh (Guatemala, CA) The game doesn't have a lot of movies and plot. The enemies are almost the same. The figures are small on a 32 inch TV. But, the action is incredible. You'll have good time trying the abilities of your favorite super heroes.
Will keep you entertained May 13, 2010 margaret 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this for my 10yr old and more often than not, I will catch both my husband and the kid playing it together, they will sit there for hours on end with this one. It's a constant shoot, kick, punch, slam, you name it. It is a bit violent, so I don't recommend play without supervision but it's mainly OK because it is not AS violent as others out in the market and definitely not as gory and bloody as most.
Ultimate Alliance 2 April 24, 2010 Lorenzo 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game brings back the idea of being a superhero true to life. I find that so many games to be so far from what I would be if I could be in a game. I love that its so easy to play that only after 3x I was playing like a pro. I would recomend this game to any bonafide comicbook and scifi friends to pick up a copy and allow yourself to become wolverine,The Hulk,or so many to choose from. Im hoping a Ultimat Alliance 3 is on the way .
Not as good as Marvel Alliance 1 April 23, 2010 irukandji So, what makes Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 fall short of the first? First off, it was made by a different developer Vicarious Visions, where as the first one (and previous X-Men Legends) were made by Raven Software. Vicarious Visions made the PSP/Wii versions, until now.
You can't customize your heroes if you pick Easy mode. So you pretty much have to play the "Normal" mode (or Heroic, as it is listed). It's not very hard, but I think that was unnecessary. They changed where the Health bar of the enemies is located. It used to be a big bar on the top of the screen, similar to Final Fight or Diablo. But now it is a tiny bar over every enemy. This was a bad change, for one, it is hard to tell how much damage your characters' attack did when you are trying to compare them to each other. Secondly, that bar gave you information of the enemy, such as "Energy Resistant", but now how are you supposed to tell what they resist, it doesn't show.
There is not much diversity in the enemies or environments in this game as compared to the first. In the first game every act was different and unique. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 it is hard to tell what act you are even on. It is not listed in the pause screen or anywhere else for that matter. You can't go back to previous areas. The only way to replay a section is to use the simulator.
You probably already know the main story, a Civil war among the heroes. Depending on which side you choose for the Civil war, it will affect what you can upgrade for your heroes. It is silly you can't fully upgrade your character because you chose one side over another. The only way to fully upgrade would be to play the whole thing over. The storyline also creates more problems, through a good portion of the game, characters became "locked" so you couldn't play them, because of their involvement with story. In a short game, not being able to play certain characters is really stupid. The game is short, despite reviews saying it was 12-15 hours long, I finished in 8 hours. And I was not rushing. The first game took me about 20+ hours. On top of it all the storyline was pointless, as if only to exist to justify making this sequel. I'll avoid spoilers, but many times I was left with the feeling, "All that for nothing huh?". The first game seemed like it was written by Marvel, this one seemed like it was written by the game developers.
All the changes they made were for the worst. The reviews I read from IGN and such said this was more of the same. I wanted that, because I loved Marvel Ultimate Alliance. But they were wrong. They were very wrong.
