Good game, but severely lacking in some spots August 11, 2010 J. Rossi (Downers Grove, IL) I got this game used not too long ago, mostly to play my brother-in-law online. I play it almost everyday and do enjoy it, but there are several areas where the game is lacking.
· When using the three-click swing meter (which is much more convenient on shots that you are not hitting to 100 percent strength), you are just as likely to hit it perfect as you are to have the game hitch and slow down so that your shot is screwed up.
· There is no tutorial or tip about hitting with the wind, which comes up quite often on a few courses. An 8 mph wind will hardly affect your ball, but there is no discernable difference between the way a 15 mph wind and 30 mph wind toy with your ball.
· The wind affects your ball heavily, but apparently it does nothing to the trees or the flag. Playing a hole with 35 mph winds and the trees don't move and the flag just gently waves. When playing female golfers (with wind or without) their ponytails remain in perfect horseshoe shape whether they are standing over the ball, hitting the ball, walking -- it just doesn't move!
· No matter what course you are playing and in what locale, the conditions are always the same -- late afternoon and slightly cloudy skies. And, the crowds never react individually to a shot, unless you hit a guy in the balls. They always clap at the same time or drop their hands to the side at the same time. That's just lazy programming.
· The post-match teaching sessions with Hank Haney are dumb and repetitive, and he never provides any actual coaching. Just "You can do better than that," or "C'mon!" The thing is, you have to go through the drills in order to earn your skills back, which you lost because of one or two bad shots during the previous round that you recovered from. In the distance category, you lose points for hitting short drives even when it was the wind knocking your ball down to begin with. You lose short game points for not landing your ball withing 5 feet of the pin, but the game won't give you the benefit of the doubt even when you're consistently draining 15 foot putts.
All that said, I do enjoy the game and I am willing to put up with the foibles and frustration to have some fun.
Worth getting even if you already have the latest version July 3, 2010 Billy (Oklahoma USA) After playing Tiger Woods PGA 10 for nearly 5 months (yep, it's my fav PSP game) I got this game because I wanted to play new courses. There are 20- yes, 20!- courses here including 9 ** that aren't in TW 10. Plus, I found a used copy for only $5.
It was a good decision. TW 09 is quite different from TW 10 in many areas from presentation, game mechanics to graphics and commentary. Because of these differences, it feels like you're playing a "new" game. Furthermore, TW 09 is definitely more challenging than TW 10. So, if you, like me, think TW 10 is too easy- even on hard mode- try this game; I assure you you'll be challenged. Let's say finishing first in every tournament won't be a given and you won't be scoring anywhere close to -100. Putting is genuinely challenging in TW 09-- as it should be. Putting is supposed to be hard. In TW 10, putting is just too easy and almost a given regardless of where you're putting from in the green.
Also, I like the fact that there are no silly mini-games and spectators in TW 09. I also find the commentary slightly better, mostly because I prefer Sam Torrance over Scott Van Pelt. The graphics and player animation are pretty good, but not as good as in TW 10. The "Game Face" feature is more robust but the Pro Shop is quite sparse.
In conclusion, if you like to play TW PGA Golf in your PSP and you don't have the 09 version, you should seriously consider getting it.
** Courses in TW 09 that aren't in TW 10:
Aviara, Bay Hill, the K Club, the National, Sheshan, TPC Scottsdale, Wentworth, Wolf Creek and Fancourt

Good game to kick back and relax to get rid of days turmoil. No killing, no blood, just whack the h**l out of a little ball. But with thought.
Decent game. May 1, 2010 A. Eberts (Boise, ID United States) I had a chance to get 2010 over this one, but because of the reviews, I chose the 2009 version. I was expecting the graphics to be better. I mean, there are more elaborate ps2 games out there so I was surprised by the shotty worksmanship here, and the great ratings this game got overall. I also noticed it would get all glitchy when I'd end up in a bunker too. The cool things are the physics of the game itself, and really the smooth motions of character that pulls back and hits the ball. The movements and overall game seem very fluid. I just wish they would've made the look of everything seem more crisper. In the end, actually a fun addictive game.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 April 23, 2010 David Briggs (BATON ROUGE, LA, US) Realistic game experience, a little complicated for younger players, and took some time for me to get the hang of the intricacies of the game. (I'm still learning everytime I play) Overall a good golf game. Much more challenging than the golf game on Wii Sports.
