Amazon.com The Dualshock 3 wireless controller for the PlayStation 3 system provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive SIXAXIS⢠motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when the user feels the rumble right in the palm of their hand. It can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user's body. Dualshock 3 wireless controller utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and the controller's USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller through the PlayStation 3 system at anytime. Kind of a no-brainer March 10, 2010 tomahagne (Elkridge, MD) In my experience, no controller works quite as well as the original. Yes, the Sony DualShock is pricier than the third parties', but no one, not even Logitech, seems to be as well-polished as the tried and true DualShock.
I've been burned (not physically) by bad controllers enough times to know better now. Sure, I can buy a Nyko or Mad Catz for half the price, and take the gamble. Or, I can just buy the sure thing.
I think that assurance is money well spent.
That said, I will admit that the ergonomics are not (and has never been) quite right for the Sony controllers. Some complain that the grip angles are wrong or too slim. I personally don't take issue with either, but I can't figure out why they round the top of the analog sticks. They're textured and grippy enough for dry thumbs, but after a while, your thumbs will build up a little sweat. And a little is all you need for it to get slippery. This isn't as unusual a scenario as it may sound. When you're resting your thumbs against a rubbery plastic surface, they will get a little warm and become just slightly moist. The only way to maintain contact is to occasionally wipe your thumbs.
That seems a bit silly to me. This minor design flaw is most noticeable during intense first-person shooters. It's even a bit frustrating when playing easy-going games like LittleBigPlanet which uses the analogs almost exclusively.
If they would implement a more aggressive texture (like skateboard tape) or depressions (like Xbox controllers) this would be perfect.
Fortunately, there are some easy add-on solutions that work very well:
FPS Freek
SpeedFreek
PS3 Dual Triggers
Yes, that means spending a few more dollars on top of your $50+ controller, but they're worth it.
Satisfecho por la compra - Satisfied with the purchase March 10, 2010 Oscar Blas Ayala (Asuncion, Paraguay) El producto llegó en las condiciones estipuladas por el vendedor, estoy muy satisfecho con la compra.
The product arrived in the conditions set by the seller, I am very satisfied with the purchase.
It's not the controller that's fun March 9, 2010 C. Stevens (Norwalk, CT USA) If you're looking to get another controller for your ps3 get the sony brand. It's the best build and worth the money. I just wish the charging cable was longer.
Red PS3 controller March 9, 2010 R. Kreuser (Hartford, WI) It's a red version of the one that comes with the PS3. Works great.
Cheaper the Best Buy March 8, 2010 Hangz (MI) Works just as good as the red or black controllers. Best Buy sells for $55.00. Got on Amazon for $44.00 with free shipping.
