Amazon.com Product Description
Experience the thrill and terror all over again with Resident Evil 5 for PS3. Featuring Chris Redfield of the original Resident Evil and Sheva Alomar, a West African agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), this sci-fi survival game is staged in a remote desert colony packed with hordes of fast-moving, quick-thinking enemies that represent a whole new breed of evil.

Meet Two Fierce, Playable Main Characters
Back from the original title and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, former S.T.A.R.S. special forces team member Redfield is a battle-tested, founding member of the BSAA. With a reputation for superior marksmanship and phenomenal hand-to-hand combat abilities, he's on the ground and up against a new strain of evil.

You'll call his shots from the same over-the-shoulder third person viewpoint that distinguished Resident Evil 4, except this time you'll also have the option of playing as his teammate, the fierce, local Alomar. Whoever you play as, updates to the earlier version's third-person control scheme offer more options and promise intuitive interactions.

Learn to Work Together
The new cooperative game play element focuses on the realities of a dual-agent mission, highlighting the ways in which Redfield and Alomar must work together to survive the unexpected, while still allowing them to split up and work alone. To help you maximize the potential of this setup, two-player online and offline co-op modes ensure that you have options when picking a partner.

Steel yourself Against the Harsh Reality of Kijuju
An advanced version of Capcom's proprietary MT Framework game engine brings groundbreaking graphics and effects to Kijuju, the highly-developed environment where this game's action takes place. New, lifelike lighting schemes highlight the differences between harsh sunlight and extreme darkness, and when you move from one to the other, you'll have to wait for your character's eyes to adjust before you can see clearly, adding to the suspense and challenge of navigating this game's environs.

Face the Next Generation of Evil
You'll face new enemies with faster reflexes and improved AI, designed to be as dangerous alone as they are in groups and to keep even Resident Evil masters on their toes. Thankfully, they're not the only ones who have evolved. This game also offers access to powerful new weapons variations that extend your destructive capabilities.

And the updated, quick-select inventory system allows for real-time inventory management, as well as allowing characters to trade items and allowing you to place an item on the directional pad for instant access. Add all this to a detailed storyline the touches on what the past ten years have meant for Redfield and a Hollywood-caliber soundtrack, and it's clear that the latest installment in this series really does showcase all the elements at the heart of horror gaming.

4 out of 5 stars Great game but i wish they went back to the city...   July 16, 2010

This is a great game but i which they where back in the city fighting zombies I am getting kind of sick of the parasite enemys also, in story mode I want to be able to find alone and not with a parter.

The game could of been worst but its still not the best in the series, I hope capcom improves RE6 and take the player back to the city with zombies to fight because thats what the fans want .

You are surrounded by bloodthirsty zombies and their annoying psycho dogs. They are to your right. They are to your left. They are, well, everywhere.

You aim, and..............

"Honey. Can you come help me? I need ammo.......... I need saving............. I need............."

Clunky game, made clunkier by your ball and chain. She looks good, but I wish I had left her in the car. Not sure how many more chapters I can take.

4 out of 5 stars It is fun but I miss the puzzles!   May 29, 2010
Matt D. Eckert (Coeur D' Alene)
I love the resident evil games and they were the first games I bought for my original playstation. The graphics in this game are great. The combat is great. The story is great. Where are the puzzles though? There are a couple but they aren't difficult. The zombies are pretty much gone and are replaced with fast moving infected villagers. It would be great to see the return of some of the scarier bosses like NEMESIS. In RE3 I was doing everything I could to get away from him through the entire game. Don't get me wrong RE5 is a great game and it does have its challenges. I would buy it again. I'd be more interested to see Capcom go back to it's roots and bring the horror and puzzle part of the Resident Evil franchise back.

3 out of 5 stars Like Resident Evil 4, only much worse   May 25, 2010

It's not a bad game, but it's basically a remake gone bad of Resident Evil 4. It's a shame that more thought wasn't put in this game. I think most of the effort of Capcom was done on multiplayer and on the AI of the NPC, but that's a shame that so much energy was put in a feature that's not fun even a bit (having an annoying NPC stuck with you through out the game).

Pros:
Great graphics, although basically the same graphics of RE4 with no noticeable improvements (not that they needed improvement)
Very nice story, and some great dialogue
Still the enjoyable gameplay of RE4 just inferior in many levels: less scary, less dark, less variety in the way you pick up and organize your weapons, no merchant, no treasures combining etc.

Cons:
Shorter than RE4
Less appeal of the characters.. Chris is not Leon
Very annoying NPC in single player campaign that still has bugs and ruins the game in many levels: picks up ammo, breaks barrels on her own, stands in the line of fire or stuck near a doorway etc. Too much maintenance and not one which makes you proud (i.e. defending a helpless daughter of the president) - in other words maintenance that was not intended by the game designers.
General disappointment of a game not living up to its predecessor

I suggest pick this up only if you're a huge resident evil fan, and even then make sure you have played all the previous titles and the Chronicles series first that's available on the Wii, and more fun. Still a good game.
