weak game. July 29, 2010 ETV I bought this game thinking it would be fun. But then I played it a bit, and the game has a lot of problems.
It starts off nice and easy, but then leaves you screaming in frustration! The AI is way too difficult! They can crash into a car but then 30 seconds later passes you again. And no matter how much crap you put on your car, you will never pass them. It is so frustrating when during a six lap circuit your opponents pass you at the last second.
There are no driving physics at all. I have 2 examples. 1, in real life if I'm driving and just nudge the side of the road I don't immediatley stop down to 0 mph. In this game you do. 2, in real life if I crash into another car I dont start flipping 20 ft. in the air! This is why you cannot crash. If you crash, you might as well restart the rcae, because you will hardly ever catch up to the AI.
There are 2 new race modes. Drag and Drift. You would think drag races would be fun, but they too are annoying. When the traffic starts you get totaled half the time, and you have to be really accurate when changing gears. A bad change can mess up the whole race. I had to restart a drag race about 40 times because I either changed a gear too early or got totaled. Drift races can also be a bit annoying on hard mode. There aren't any other racers on the track but you. That means that the computer just randomly generates points. And a lot of points. But you should finish the race still even if you are going to lose so you get your style points. When you start your first race, you're going to have to get used to not crashing, because if you crash you lose all the points of your current drift. It is maddening getting a really high drift, only to crash and lose your points. If you play on hard, you better not crash.
The tracks are also really repetive and boring. You get to race in one small city, and you race in the same part of the city the whole game. It's like racing the same race over and over. Customizing your car is pretty cool, but it's annoying having to unlock stuff! The game would actually be easier if I could buy all the best upgrades at the start of the game. But no. To get a lot of style points you have to just to drift races over and over.
Why are there no cops? Come on, cops are the best part of Need for Speed. I loved the cops in Hot Pursuit 2. Why did EA take out the cops?
In conclusion this is an average racing game, but still I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
real good February 16, 2010 Israel (usa) I order this game and it got to my house fast and I like the game and I will order more stuff out of amazon cause they are the best.
Solid Racer January 21, 2010 Lance (SLU, WEST INDIES) My favourite NFS game is still "Grand Stakes" for the PS1, but this one is alright. Lots of options to customize and mod your favourite tuner cars and plenty of stuff to unlock which adds to the replay value. True NFS fans should have this one in their collection.
Speedy! August 22, 2009 Randi (Colorado) Need for speed underground is an action-packed game without all the bad language and influences of games like "grand theft" - fun for everyone.
Shell December 16, 2008 Michelle L. Gaines (Newton,MS.) My daughter and I enjoy playing this game. She let her cousins play with it too. They enjoy it also. I will recommend this game and all other to everyone.
